The first 2 pics were taken on Columbia Blvd. on my way to work.. when we have a really clear day, Mt. Hood jumps out so huge.. its spellbounding for me.. the last 2 are Mt. St. Helens which erupted about 30 years ago.. shot from rocky butte..

heres a few pictures from the collab party in the LBC. Arik Krunk invited me down to collab with him and Saito Daisuke of Japan. Saito is one of my favorite glass blowers.. his cleanliness and detail is matched by few..and he has great style... Besides getting in on a couple mega collab SLOP cups with AK and Hermit, i also got to make a collab sherlock with both Saito and Hermit. it was a great experience.. thanks to Toasty and his house full of young artists for having us, and to Arik for including me in this amazing project..

I went to the Eugene and Portland screenings of Sling's Documentary "Degenerate Art" The art and culture of glass pipes.

I think the movie is more than anyone could have hoped for at this point in our evolution as an underground culture. That it took 5 years to make gave enough time to get an amazing amount of footage and information.. Its beautifully edited, the music is spot on, the story is laid out and told by a huge list of people, with humor, humility, and of course some outlandishness.. it makes me feel so lucky to be a part of it, and the entire pipe scene..

my favorite part is Chaz' rally at 4:30 AM..

great job Sling!!! We all owe you big time..

I'm back from Los Angeles. It was an awesome week. First off I have many thanks to give. Jamie McGrew for riding down with me and letting me borrow the van. Sparkle Jones for the car. Meredith for the amazing place to stay. My mom and Paul for painting the sherlocks on the gallery walls. Blue for the reetz hat, the collab and riding back with me. Matt, Jeff, Kevin, Dustin, Courtney, Jeremy, Paul(kiefer) and the rest of the goosefire/high priority crew made it happen.. And of course thanks to my friends and collectors who made it out.. thanks so much for the support..

Pakoh and I got down on another collab right before he escapes the northwest.. our first crate set.. this one is blasty weaves on the outside and black and white weaves on the inside.. about 15" tall.. maybe the biggest tube i've made by hand..

Revok is one of my favorite artists.I follow his blog/life/career more than any other. i was very bummed to hear he was arrested boarding a plane a few months ago, and then given an absolutely ridiculous bail of $320,000 on failure to pay a $3000 restitution. i had seen some amazing tribute pieces posted while he was locked up, so i did a couple as well.. it so happens that the day after i made them, he was released..after 44days. so maybe they were good luck.. haha.. glad you're out!!

i'm just about to hit the road with Nate Dizz to LA.. Dizz, myself, kurt b, and vrhs are on a team amongst many awesome other teams demoing fri sat sun at the LA convention center. we're scheduled to start at 11am on friday..

I've been working hard through tons of distractions to get as much as possible for the show..my glass will be available at the C&G booth. excited to see everybody and see tons of amazing glass. there should be some new designs of mine from Glasshouse clothing and some new colorways of my whoopzip shirt as well!!!

Also, the Goose fire gallery opening with Clinton on friday night in Long beach Should be great.. planning to walk over to MOCA to see the "art in the streets" exhibit as well.. have 10 rolls of film for my Rolleiflex..

went through all my boxes and jars of chips and got everything i could to make one last run of the "chip collector" series.. i wont be doing this again for quite a while, and when i do accumulate enough in the reservoir, my new collection of chips will no doubt be very different than these color combos..

i wanted to make special crates for these that matched the feel and came up with these colorful boxes with black insides.. the patterns are somewhat inspired by the artist "PUSH". The LostArt logo was designed by local artist Joel Fish and screen printed by me..

a few night ago i heard a spanish radio station broadcasting with loud speakers on main st. i decided to go see what was going on, but it ended up being one dude talking really loudly through huge speakers, to about 12 people standing right there.. kinda entertaining, but i decided to walk to the bus station instead and try out some long exposures.. it was very eventful, got offered two different photography jobs, and a chance to get rich with my screen printing, and hassled by the fuzz.... it was awesome..

i recently upgraded my digital camera from my trusty rebel xti, to a 60d. so i've been takin lots of pictures and videos.. .. also, i submitted one my snow photo's to the register guard (local paper) and to my surprise, it was in the paper today.. that was awesome! its the one on main st with the snow and footprints..I doubt if i wouldn't have had a new camera , that i would have ran out into the snowstorm to take pictures.. a few randoms

i hadn't done any basketweaves since my daughter was born 3 months ago.. i took almost 2 months off of glassblowing and when i started back up i just couldn't bring myself to do weaves.. wasnt ready for the commitment and the focus it took.. i did some one piecers, an encalmo set, then i lost(broke) a week long encalmo double bubbler.. came back the next day and decided i was ready to start stackin chips again..

i've had these chips laying out since august, they were all arranged in the patterns i had set up months ago, but covered in dust..i cleaned them all up..one by one. and re layed them out in new patterns, with a new level of patience that i didnt realize i had... i think these are my nicest weave work so far.. simple sherlocks, but really elegant, really clean, and really refreshing.. i love these pieces and loved making them...

first time in 18 months it has snowed here.. when you have to deal with the cold anyway, and dont need to drive, the snow is amazing!!! its a sound and feeling of time stopping.. so silent.. when it first began to fall(around midnight) the train was passing so you could here silence and the train wheels at the same time.. mesmerizing.. it came in fast, and i knew it would melt fast, so i went out right as it first came in, then got up early to go enjoy it before it all melted..

this set was inspired by stripes you get as a world champion in cycling.. originally i just loved the Colnago logo, which usually features the stripes diagonally.. i started looking into it and discovered the world champ thing and the drama rocking these colors in biking can bring if you're not the champ.. it was all pretty intriguing.. these stripes signified all the nations in the world at the time and they stand for "passion,faith,victory,work ethic, and sportsmanship..."

went to brooklyn for the release of "smoked volume 2" by grit city.. in which i had a set of pieces and a photo spread in the back of the book.. release party at Easy street gallery which was awesome.. but i pron had the most fun just walkin around with my glass people.. with me for most of these shots was kurt b and sara, hippo.. because we stayed together in a tenament in the LES while everyone else was puffin on the roof of the nice hotel in bk.. it was an awesome experience.. and i mostly took pictures of graffiti, or of urban landscapes transformed by graffiti..

my summer in a nutshell... or wooden crate..

This was a huge, more than month long project for me.. I wanted to make really nice, really involved pieces, and I wanted them to come in packaging that respected and protected all that time and work... I've been thinking of different ways to incorporate my new found passion for screen printing with my glass and this project was perfect.. I got to build and design stuff, and it protected my glass..win win. I hand drew the logo, got my first table saw, and with some help from Caitlin, got it all done in time for the CHAMPS trade show in vegas.. if you're there, check out the C&G booth..
